What is MESA?

MESA is an international partnership project initially created by ETSI and TIA who have agreed to co-operate for the production of mobile broadband specifications for Public Safety aimed at the Public Safety markets.
   


Who are the MESA OPs?

The MESA Organizational Partners are currently ETSI and TIA.
There are two Observers: TTA of Korea and ISACC of Canada.
  


How can I be part of Project MESA?

In order to participate fully in Project MESA, you need to be either a member of one of the participating standardization organizations or be registered as a public safety member. More...
   


Can I participate without being a member?

As part of your decision to join, the Organizational Partners may grant the status of guest for a limited period.

Organizations may apply to obtain Guest status by writing to the MESA Secretariat.
  


Can I make a presentation at a MESA meeting?

Presentations should fall within the scope of MESA with only such references to existing technology necessary to understand the presented subject.

Potential presenters should submit a request for the approval of the presentation to MESAsupport@etsi.org based on the MESA template to be submitted at least 30 days before the official meetings.


Who are the MESA officials?

The MESA officials are elected for two-year periods. Information about MESA officials is available in the Committee web area.

What is the structure of MESA?

The MESA structure comprises of a Steering Committee that co-ordinates the work of the Service Specification Group - Services and Applications (SSG SA) and the Technical Specification Group - System (TSG SYS).

How do I access the Project MESA documents?

All documents relative to MESA are available on an open server:

How can my input be taken into account?

If you wish to make a comment on one of the documents being drafted, or if you wish to input some ideas of your own, you can either send it to the MESA Secretariat as input to the next meeting (make sure you clearly indicate the subject and which group is concerned) or you can distribute it via the appropriate e-mail exploder list and thus initiate an open discussion.
  


Can I host a Project MESA meeting?

Members of the project are welcome to propose facilities for the hosting of a meeting. 

Contact the MESA Secretariat for advice about logistics and timing.
  


How is information distributed?

The documents and information relative to Project MESA are distributed via e-mail exploder lists

When a document is placed on the server a message is also sent to make the project members aware of its existence.
  


Is permission needed to use the MESA logo?

You are free to use the MESA logo as long as it is for the promotion and interests of Project MESA. 

The MESA logo is available on the server. The colours and proportional size should not be altered. For more information contact the MESA Secretariat.
  


What is the MESA IPR policy?

The MESA Organizational Partners have agreed that their IPR policies should be respected and that their respective members should be encouraged to grant licenses on fair, reasonable terms and conditions and on a non discriminatory basis (Article 8 of the MESA Technical Working Procedures).

The MESA Technical Working Procedures also request that each Individual Member should declare, at the earliest opportunity, any IPRs which they believe to be essential, or potentially essential, to any work ongoing within MESA.
